Italian Sous Chef

Agata & Valentina, one of New York City’s premier Italian specialty food stores seeks a professional, experienced and talented Sous Chef with experience in Authentic Italian Cuisine to join our busy kitchen. The ideal candidate will have Italian food experience, a strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment with plenty of growth potential. This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative, creative and hands on Sous Chef who will work closely with the owners and Executive Chef to develop new and exciting dishes and products.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years experience as a sous chef
- Authentic regional Italian cooking experience a must / emphasis on Sicilian cuisine preferred
- Experience making homemade pasta including filled pastas
- Knowledge of recipe writing, costing and inventory control
-Training and Supervisory experience a must
- High volume cooking experience desirable
-Excellent organizational skills, flexibility with work schedule and optimistic, energetic attitude

Essential Job Duties
-Develop new dishes and products
- Ensuring food is consistently of excellent quality
- Recipe writing and costing and Inventory control,
- Manage and oversee the training and productivity of staff
- Lead, motivate & supervise employees
- Ensure a clean, neat organized kitchen
